Program group leader

The RNH Afterschool Program is a dynamic program providing after-school activities for K-5 grade students in the Northwest Bronx. We aim to offer a safe, enriching, and engaging environment for students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and grow as individuals. Weare seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leader to join our team. The Group Leader will be responsible for leading a group of elementary school (K-5th) students in various activities, ensuring their safety and well-being, and creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. This role requires a passion for working with youth, strong leadership skills, and the ability to facilitate engaging and educational activities.

Key Responsibilities

● Supervise and manage a group of elementary students during after-school program hours.

● Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities including academic support, arts and crafts, sports, and cultural enrichment.

● Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.

● Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and growth.

● Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff members.

● Assist in the development and implementation of program curriculum and activities.

● Maintain accurate records of attendance and participation.

● Provide support and mentorship to students, helping them to develop social and emotional skills.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.

● Experience working with elementary children in a recreational or educational setting.

● CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

● Sense of humor and curiosity and ability to work in changing environment

● Proficiency in Google Workplace (particularly Docs & Sheets)

● Spanish proficiency preferred

● Successful Background Check and State Central Registry clearances required

● Physical requirements include standing, walking, and participating in various activities with

students.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 1:30pm-6pm (School days off and breaks are

additional hours).

Pay Rate $18 per hour
