Transportation Operations Manager

The Mission: Lead, scale, and optimize a high-performing Transportation department. You are responsible for the full lifecycle of our CDL team—from strategic hiring and DOT compliance to elite service execution and cost-saving route optimization.

What You’ll Do:

• Build the Team: Own talent acquisition, onboarding, and 90-day performance reviews for all drivers.

• Optimize Performance: Analyze daily metrics (Miles per Delivery, Payroll %, Planned vs. Actual) to find efficiencies and reduce costs.

• Safety & Compliance: Act as the onsite authority for DOT/FMCSR standards; lead the Safety Committee and manage Samsara corrective actions.

• Fleet Leadership: Manage accident response, fleet maintenance coordination, and the DOT Accident Register.

• Drive Engagement: Conduct monthly 1-on-1s and develop communication plans to maintain a high-retention, "safety-first" culture.

• Strategic Planning: Partner with the GM on quarterly revenue reviews and workforce headcount planning.

What You Bring:

• Experience: 7+ years in a fleet/transportation leadership role managing CDL drivers.

• Compliance Mastery: Deep knowledge of DOT, FMCSR, and Food Safety regulations.

• Tech Savvy: Proficient in Samsara, First Advantage, and WMS/ERP systems.

• Leadership: A proven track record of engaging large teams and delivering professional reports.

  • Strategic Staffing: Conduct quarterly business reviews with the GM to align headcount with revenue; manage the full lifecycle of requisitions and partner with staffing teams to ensure zero-gap capacity.
    
    
  • Talent Pipeline: Lead all Transportation hiring, oversee comprehensive New Hire Training, and execute formal 90-day performance evaluations to certify solo-driver readiness.
    
    
  • Retention & Culture: Own the driver retention strategy, implementing engagement initiatives and maintaining employee relations to foster a high-performance workplace.
