Phlebotomist Job Details

• Location: Rochester, NY 14626 (Greater Rochester area)
• Assignment Type: Travel Phlebotomist
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital-based (Inpatient, Outpatient, Laboratory)
• Shift: Day shift, 2x12-hour shifts per week (09:00 - 23:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $600 - $620
• Assignment Duration: 12 weeks (August 10, 2025 – November 2, 2025)
• Orientation: 8 hours (includes up to 5 hours of billable modules)
• Floating: Required between inpatient, outpatient, and lab units as needed

Phlebotomist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting
• Active New York State phlebotomy license (must be in hand at time of application)
• Experience with EPIC charting system (required for this healthcare job)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in blood collection techniques (gray, green, light blue, purple, red top tubes, finger stick, ABG collection)
• Experience working with patient populations from neonates to geriatrics
• Strong aseptic technique and post-venipuncture care skills
• Ability to prioritize patient collections (stat, timed, routine)
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the Rochester, NY facility

Phlebotomist Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections for patients of all ages in a hospital environment
• Process, label, and handle specimens accurately following laboratory protocols
• Utilize EPIC for electronic charting and documentation
• Prioritize and manage multiple blood collection requests based on urgency
• Deliver excellent patient care, including proper positioning and post-collection site care
• Float between inpatient, outpatient, and laboratory units as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure timely specimen collection and delivery
