Chartwell Law is seeking an experienced General Liability Associate to join our growing team in our New York City office. This position offers the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload involving a wide range of general liability matters. Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in a broad spectrum of general liability defense matters, including premises liability, construction accidents and other types of claims .
• Manage cases from inception through resolution—handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
• Collaborate closely with firm partners, clients, claims professionals, and experts to develop and implement effective defense strategies.
• Conduct legal research and provide analysis and recommendations to clients and insurers.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of case activity, ensuring adherence to court deadlines and internal requirements.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in New York is required; New Jersey admission is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a focus on general liability.
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a full caseload independently and effectively while meeting deadlines.
• Professionalism, strong organizational skills, and a client-focused approach.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $165,000
