Head Start Teacher Assistant- $16-$16.50/hour

Pro Action’s Head Start Program is looking for a full-time, 10 month, teaching assistant for their Cooktown classroom in Bath. The Teaching Assistant partners with the Teacher in the planning and implementation of daily activities in the Pre-K classroom, adhering to Head Start Performance Standards, NYS Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations and all other applicable program regulations. Working in a team environment, the Teaching Assistant will participate in weekly planning sessions, attend training and meetings as required, ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment, assist in classroom, and program modifications and help with inventory as needed.

A Child Development Associate (CDA) or an associate’s degree in early childhood is required, or the candidate must be currently enrolled in a program leading to a CDA or associate’s degree in early childhood with experience in a preschool setting. The ideal candidate must work well with children, have basic computer skills and excellent organization.

The ideal candidate must have a valid driver’s license, meeting agency standards per position and consistent, reliable transportation that will allow regular travel in and around the service area.
