Office Assistant 2 (NY HELPS) - 3473
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Office Assistant 2 will perform a variety of administrative and support duties to support efficient office operations. The duties include: managing schedules and calendars for program leadership, manage appointments, assist with travel arrangements, prepare and mail correspondence, answer and direct phone calls and emails, scan, file and organize documents, manage office equipment including service calls, creating and maintain presentations, conducting research and compiling data, and proof reading and editing documents. Provide administrative support to staff and perform clerical tasks as assigned.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer: Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as an Office Assistant 2 G-9, OR one year or more of permanent or contingent- permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a salary Grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Provisional Promotion: Current NYS Department of Health employee with one year or more permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status or 55-b/55-c service in an office assistant, clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Qualifying titles are available at: Candidates (NY HELPS): One year of clerical experience.Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work independently and in teams to carry out tasks to completion, use of MS Office Suite, and critical thinking skills.
