Billing Supervisor
- Supervise and oversee billing operations in alignment with policies and strategic initiatives, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and progress toward departmental goals.
- Facilitate team-level meetings ensuring alignment across direct reports and department; communicate updates to the Billing Manager/Senior Manager.
- Determine billing attorney assignments and assist in setting priorities for the department.
- Evaluate and address departmental issues and escalate complex matters to the Billing Manager/Senior Manager.
- Audit compliance to policies, facilitate process improvements for the Client Billing and submissions process in partnership with the Billing Manager/Senior Manager
- Oversee monthly pre-bill generation and provide relevant metrics to the Billing Manager.
- Respond to written/telephone inquiries from clients, attorneys and staff in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Billing Process Supervisor on issues within third party ebilling sites.
- Communicate with other firm administrative teams regarding billing discrepancies and questions.
- Promote teamwork within the department and provide superior service to clients, attorneys and staff.
- Support and mentor department team leads through regular communication and check-ins.
- Structure and facilitate the onboarding and training of new staff within the department.
- Monitor team performance and take proactive responsibility for identifying and addressing performance concerns, escalating issues to the Billing Manager or Senior Manager as necessary.
- Monitor department productivity and provide input on staffing and work from home/hybrid agreements.
- Facilitate opportunities for team-level training and development.
- Maintain a regular in-office presence to support team collaboration, attend scheduled meetings, and perform tasks that require on-site access, while effectively managing responsibilities in a hybrid work environment .
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff
- Conduct routine supervision and team meetings with direct reports
- Oversee the daily workflow of the team
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Actively coach direct reports to maintain and enhance knowledge, skills and abilities
- Complete necessary manager administrative duties, including approving time off requests and approving timecards
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in billing or team coordination; law firm billing experience preferred.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems and MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret client billing data.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing needs.
- Willingness to assume new tasks and responsibilities.
- Basic knowledge of human resources policies and firm procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond to sensitive inquiries.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
The salary range for this position is $63,000-$75,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also offers bonuses, and a full benefits package.
