Sauced is an intimate neighborhood wine bar with locations in the East Village and Brooklyn. We are known for expressive wines, warm hospitality, and a loyal community of regulars. Our food program is focused and thoughtful, designed to complement our wine list. Our kitchen is fully open to the dining room, and we operate as one collaborative service team.
Position Overview
This is a hybrid kitchen and bartending position in an open, guest facing environment. The kitchen role prepares food while also pouring wine and assisting guests throughout service. This role participates in the house tip pool and is fully integrated into the guest experience every shift.
Because the kitchen is open and visible to guests, this position requires someone who is comfortable cooking while interacting with guests, maintaining a clean and organized station, and contributing to the overall atmosphere of the room. Strong hospitality instincts and prior wine experience are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
Prepare and execute Sauced’s food offerings with consistency, cleanliness, and attention to detail
Maintain a highly organized, guest facing open kitchen station
Follow proper food handling and sanitation standards
Assist with prep, pars, and restocking as needed
Wine and Guest Service
Pour wine and assist with guest service every shift
Comfortably speak about wines and guide guests with confidence
Provide warm, professional hospitality while balancing food execution
Support overall service flow alongside the team
Team and Operations
Communicate clearly between kitchen and bar to ensure smooth, coordinated service
Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shared workspace
Contribute to a respectful, team oriented work environment
Qualifications
Professional cooking experience with strong organizational and sanitation habits
Comfort working in an open, guest facing kitchen
Previous experience serving or selling wine in a restaurant or bar setting
Interest in natural wine and willingness to deepen product knowledge
Strong communication skills and a genuine hospitality mindset
Ability to move between kitchen tasks and bartending responsibilities with ease
Calm, team oriented mindset in a small, fast paced environment
Availability to work evenings and weekends
Compensation
This role is hourly and participates in the house tip pool. Total compensation reflects both kitchen production and active bartending responsibilities in a guest facing environment.
