General Manager – Boutique Hotel and Restaurant
East end of Long Island, NY
A boutique hotel with restaurant on Long Island’s East End is seeking a hospitality leader to oversee all property operations and lead the guest experience from the front line. This role is ideal for a highly organized and service-focused professional who understands how to balance guest satisfaction, team leadership, operational efficiency, and financial performance in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
This position requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable being actively involved in the day-to-day operation while also driving long-term success for the property. Employer-provided housing located near the hotel is included with the role.
Position Overview
The General Manager will direct all hotel and restaurant operations, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service while maintaining strong operational standards and profitability. The successful candidate will oversee department leaders, support staff development, monitor financial performance, and create a culture centered around hospitality, accountability, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all daily hotel and restaurant operations
- Lead departments including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Reservations, and Food & Beverage
- Create and maintain a high-level guest experience throughout all areas of the property
- Respond to guest concerns and operational issues with professionalism and urgency
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, hiring, training, and employee performance
- Work closely with ownership and corporate support teams on operational and financial matters
- Monitor budgets, labor costs, expenses, and revenue performance
- Implement operational improvements to maximize efficiency and profitability
- Oversee high-occupancy periods and successfully manage sellout operations
- Ensure compliance with company standards and all applicable regulations
- Foster a positive and professional team culture focused on service excellence
- Maintain knowledge of the local hospitality and tourism market
- Step in operationally when needed to support the team and maintain service standards
- Observe and Maintain grounds and property as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hotel management experience
- Prior leadership experience overseeing multiple departments within a hospitality environment
- Strong background in food and beverage operations
- Experience managing busy seasonal operations and fully booked properties preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational and financial management skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
- Expertise with hotel systems including PMS platforms, POS systems, OTAs, and Microsoft Office programs
- Must be able to work onsite at the property
- Flexibility to assist operational departments and cover shifts when necessary
