Summary/Objective
The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, timely delivery and pickup of compressed gas cylinders for Noble Gas Solution, LLC (“Noble”), serving local and regional business customers from our Albany, NY plant. Operating a company-provided truck, the driver is responsible for loading, unloading, and returning cylinders while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations. As the face of Noble, this role requires frequent customer interaction and demands professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
Essential Functions
- Deliver compressed gas cylinders to customers on a scheduled route and return empty cylinders to the plant for refilling.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating delivery details, product information, and resolving any delivery-related issues.
- Accurately maintain and reconcile load manifests, barcodes, FDA lot numbers, and vehicle documentation.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Participate in weekend or holiday work as required.
- Safely operate assigned delivery vehicle, including trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Demonstrate a professional, team-oriented, “can-do” attitude.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Driver Requirements and Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements.
- No moving violations or DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven (7) years.
- Valid DOT medical certificate.
- Completion of an accredited Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program required if under one
- (1) year of driving experience with GVW over 26,000 lbs.
- In-depth knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, and vehicle safety.
- The ability to drive and transport hazardous cargo for up to eight (8) hours per day or more, as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Comfortable maneuvering and parking large trucks in varied environments.
- Ability to deliver cylinders and other compressed gases as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, focus, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Must be age 21 or older.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may mentor or guide entry-level drivers.
Safety Requirements
- Immediately report safety hazards or concerns to management or the Safety Department.
- Strictly follow all AGPI and customer safety protocols, including PPE use and timely accident/injury reporting.
- Refuse and report any task believed to be unsafe.
- Participate in all required safety training and meetings.
- Maintain ongoing personal and coworker safety awareness.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, sit, climb, kneel, balance, crouch, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
- Routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs.; occasionally lift over 100 lbs.
- Push/pull gas containers on wheeled carts weighing up to 1,000 lbs.
- Use of ratchet binders frequently during daily operations.
- Ability to identify and differentiate between various scents.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Adapt quickly to route or schedule changes.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
- Full-time, minimum of eight (8) hours per day.
- Additional hours and occasional weekend or holiday work required.
Education, Experience, & Certification
- Completion of Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program preferred.
- Prior experience operating trucks with GVW over 26,000 lbs. is strongly preferred.
