Matrimonial & Family Law Attorney | Long Island, NY | $145K-$160K

Our client, a distinguished family law practice on Long Island, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Matrimonial Attorney to join their growing legal team. This role offers the opportunity to advocate for clients navigating complex family law matters including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and equitable distribution cases in Nassau and Suffolk County courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law matters, including divorce proceedings, child custody disputes, spousal maintenance, and equitable distribution
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including separation agreements, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, and court pleadings
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and develop strategic case approaches to achieve optimal client outcomes
• Negotiate favorable settlements and actively participate in mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law processes
• Appear in Nassau County and Suffolk County Family Courts for hearings, motions, conferences, and trials
• Provide empathetic, clear communication to guide clients through emotionally challenging legal processes
• Collaborate with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case management and client service
• Maintain current knowledge of New York family law statutes, matrimonial regulations, and case law developments

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in New York State (admitted to NYS Bar)
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in matrimonial law or family law practice, preferably in a small to mid-sized law firm
• Demonstrated expertise in New York divorce law, child custody and support, spousal maintenance, and property division
• Excellent negotiation, mediation, and courtroom advocacy skills
• Strong legal research, analytical, and case strategy development abilities
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage multiple family law cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Compassionate, professional demeanor with a client-centered approach to family law
• Proficiency in legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software
