Qualifications

• New York State Certification, English 7-12

• NYSED Fingerprint Clearance

• Strong working knowledge of NYS ELA Standards and Regents expectations

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver structured, standards-aligned ELA instruction

• Build classrooms with predictable systems and routines that maximize learning time

• Ensure students:

• Read actively and consistently

• Write frequently, with clear expectations

• Revise and improve based on feedback

• Maintain a classroom where:

• Disruptions are addressed immediately

• Expectations are visible and enforced

• Students are accountable for their work

• Teach students to:

• Identify central ideas and analyze texts

• Use evidence in writing and discussion

• Produce clear, structured written responses aligned to Regents expectations

• Use data and student work to adjust instruction and close gaps

• Communicate regularly with families and staff

• Contribute to a schoolwide culture of discipline, focus, and urgency
