Salary range: $58,700.00 - $85,000.00 The Agency You'll Join: The NYC Mayor's Office administers all city services, public property, most public agencies, and enforces all city, state, and federal laws within New York City. New York City's Mayor, Eric Adams is head of the executive branch of New York City's government. Mayor Adams has served the people of New York City as an NYPD officer, State Senator, and Brooklyn Borough President. The Adams' Administration is leading the fight to make New York City's economy stronger, reduce inequality, improve public safety, and build a stronger, healthier city that delivers for all New Yorkers. As an agency, we value fairness, helpfulness, transparency, leadership and build our teams around these values. For other current job opportunities visit our careers page. The Team You'll Work With: The NYC Mayor's Office of Equity (MOE) was established in 2022 and serves as New York City government's centralized equity office. Focusing on developing critical, equity-driven strategies across our diverse communities, MOE includes the Commission on Gender Equity (CGE), the Young Men's Initiative (YMI), and the NYC Unity Project (UP) as well as multi-agency bodies like the Pay Equity Cabinet (PEC) and the Taskforce on Racial Inclusion & Equity (TRIE). New York City voters passed three ballot measures in November 2022 to embed racial justice in the heart of City government. The Mayor's Office of Equity is hiring several new staff to develop and lead the successful implementation of these ballot measures and help realize a vision of racial equity in New York City. MOE's staff develop innovative programs, policies, initiatives, and campaigns designed to measurably reduce disparities and promote Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEI&A). As a critical part of the mayor's efforts to build a stronger and healthier city, MOE works across City agencies and external partners to effect meaningful change. Every MOE staffer plays an integral role in our unrelenting commitment to equity. The Problems You'll Solve: Reporting to the Director for Equity Planning & Technical Assistance under the Deputy Commissioner, you will be part of a team of Equity Planning Managers that will implement the first citywide racial equity planning process, a new mandate in our city's Charter, its “constitution.” Each Equity Planning Manager will work directly with a suite of City agencies. You will train City agencies on preparing their individual racial equity plans and meeting specific standards set by the Office of Equity. Your portfolio agencies will rely on you for technical assistance. They will also value your professional or personal experience as you help them plan strategically toward racial equity and justice. You are a trainer, explainer, and thought partner. You are also a liaison and a troubleshooter. You will communicate guidance from the Mayor's Office of Equity, and you will help agencies navigate any difficulty in the planning process. You will help to develop and implement the first-ever process for citywide racial equity planning. As part of the team developing the template and process, you will raise concerns on behalf of your portfolio agencies, while also helping ensure a process that provides meaningful accountability for New Yorkers. Ideally, you have professional and personal expertise in an area of work similar to your portfolio agencies, which will help your team tailor the process to suit your portfolio agencies' needs. Agencies will submit their plans to be published alongside the City's budget. After agencies draft their plans, you will continue working with agencies to support them in accomplishing their racial equity strategies and goals. You will continue in your role as an ongoing liaison, trainer, and thought partner. When the Mayor's Office of Equity develops policies, programs, communications, or culture products, you will ensure your portfolio agencies know about them and can employ those products to maximum effect. As the primary point of contact for our Office to your agencies, you will represent our Office and help agencies appreciate the value of working with us toward racial equity. Your high quality of work will reflect well on the Office's efforts and high standards throughout the City, and on the City's commitment to equity. Responsibilities:
