Medical Receptionist 1 (Wantagh)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling software.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant or similar credential.
- Experience with insurance verification and billing processes.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
- Ability to speak a second language relevant to the patient population served.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management software.
- Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
- Maintain patient records and ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with privacy regulations.
- Coordinate with medical staff to manage patient flow and communicate any delays or changes promptly.
- Process patient payments, handle billing inquiries, and assist with insurance verification as needed.
- Ensure the reception area is organized, clean, and stocked with necessary forms and informational materials.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence related to patient care.
