About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This role is critical in managing patient flow by scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and coordinating communication between patients and medical staff. The Medical Receptionist 1 is responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling sensitive patient data with confidentiality, and facilitating smooth administrative operations. Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling software.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant or similar credential.
  • Experience with insurance verification and billing processes.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to speak a second language relevant to the patient population served.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management software.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with privacy regulations.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to manage patient flow and communicate any delays or changes promptly.
  • Process patient payments, handle billing inquiries, and assist with insurance verification as needed.
  • Ensure the reception area is organized, clean, and stocked with necessary forms and informational materials.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence related to patient care.
