Pride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our client’s medical facility based in Flushing, NY, 11355. This is a 3 -month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Job Title: Medical Assistant

Location: Flushing, NY, 11355

Pay Range: $22 to $26 per hour

Shift: Days: Monday-Friday (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

Duration: 13 weeks assignment with a Possible extension and a possible Direct-to-hire Opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care Support

• Fulfills direct patient care responsibilities including:
  • Performing venipuncture and/or EKGs as assigned
  • Organizing patient flow and checking appointment schedules
  • Escorting patients to exam or procedure rooms and assisting with walking, transferring, or dressing as needed
  • Preparing patients for exams and assisting physicians during procedures
  • Collecting and processing specimens, performing point-of-care testing
  • Taking and recording vital signs, and relaying physician instructions to patients and families
  • Answering telephone calls and providing accurate and relevant information

2. Clerical and Administrative Duties

• Completes clerical tasks such as:
  • Sending/receiving patient medical records, referral information, and hospital documentation
  • Managing and updating patient charts using both EMR systems and manual processes
  • Completing and submitting forms, requisitions, and other documentation as required

3. EMR & Orders Management

• Inputs orders and prescription refill requests into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for physician review and approval

4. Inventory and Supplies

• Assists in ordering, restocking, and inventorying medical supplies as needed to maintain proper stock levels

5. Exam Room Preparation & Infection Control

• Sets up examination rooms and instruments according to sterilization protocols and hospital infection control guidelines
• Monitors and logs refrigeration temperatures, point-of-care testing logs, sterilization processes, crash cart checks, and other compliance measures

6. Safety & Compliance

• Disposes of expired medications and supplies in accordance with institutional policies
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to legal standards, hospital protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines for handling hazardous substances

7. Medical Records Management

• Supports ongoing chart maintenance including filing operative reports, lab results, and care forms

8. Surgery/Procedure Coordination (as assigned)

• May assist with surgery/procedure scheduling and pre-admission preparations including obtaining consent forms and verifying patient information

9. Phlebotomy

• May be required to perform proficient venipuncture/phlebotomy duties

10. Patient Scheduling & Registration

• May schedule appointments, register patients, and update patient demographic and insurance information in the system

11. Insurance & Pre-Certification Support

• May verify insurance coverage and perform or confirm pre-certifications for scheduled procedures using internal tools or web-based resources

12. General Duties

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisors or healthcare providers

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED (required)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required) - American Heart Association(AHA).

Certificate of completion from an approved Medical Assistant training program.

Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA-CMA, AMT-RMA) (preferred).
