About The Team
The Youth Events team oversees the development and execution of over 35 Rising NYRR events per year, including events associated with our Five-Borough Series and the TCS New York City Marathon, each serving 100-1000 or more participants, and the support of other youth and community-based efforts. This position will report to the Head of Talent Acquisition, and at events will report to the EventManager and/or the Area Lead(s).
About The Role
On the Move is NYRR’s mobile activation designed to bring running experiences and free NYRR programs directly into communities across New York City.
This is a highly customer-facing role where staff are expected to actively engage with participants, encourage community members to join activities, and help promote NYRR’s free programs.
Due to the scheduling of this role, this position is best suited for candidates who haveopen availability and are okay not having a set schedule.Events may be planned in as little as a week and are highly dependent on community needs.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Welcome and actively engage community members at the activation area
- Encourage participants of all ages to join activities
- Introduce visitors to NYRR programs and answer basic questions
- Assist with activity stations and participant flow
- Support basic event setup, operations, and breakdown as directed by the Event Lead
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Expectations:
This is an active engagement role. Staff are expected to:
- Initiate interaction with participants rather than waiting to be approached
- Maintain a positive and welcoming presence throughout the event
- Represent NYRR in a professional and enthusiastic manner
Staff should always maintain active engagement with participants. If there are no participants actively engaging with the activation, staff are expected to proactively invite nearby community members to participate.
Requirements/Skills:
- Ability to stand and remain active for most of the shift
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to move throughout the activation space to engage participants
- Ability to lift or move light event equipment when needed
Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $22.00
