Sr Technical Engineer

In This Role Youll:
The Senior Technical Engineer deploys and maintains infrastructure platforms supporting Paramount's 24/7 broadcast and media operations. You'll work hands-on with virtualization, storage, networking, and broadcast systems - building, troubleshooting, and optimizing platforms that power creative and live production workflows. This role combines hands-on technical work with problem-solving: you'll deploy and maintain platforms, troubleshoot complex issues, support incident response, and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications You Bring:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
-
Strongly proficient in Linux and Windows server environments. This includes building systems, configuring them, hardening their security, and optimizing performance.

5+ years of hands-on experience deploying and supporting enterprise infrastructure platforms in production environments.
Bonus Skills:
-
Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms like Nutanix or VMware is required. This includes support for deployment. It also includes configuration, administration, and troubleshooting. Candidates should have experience in compute, storage, and networking layers.

A solid knowledge of networking basics is required. This includes TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, load balancing, and workflows that are affected by latency.

Skilled in designing and supporting SAN and NAS storage environments using SMB and NFS for high-throughput creative and broadcast workloads.

Demonstrated capability implementing and using monitoring, alerting, and log analysis to support anticipatory detection and root-cause analysis (e.g., Zabbix, New Relic, or similar).

Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or similar), including VM instances, storage, networking, and hybrid connectivity for on-premises and cloud integration.

Proven ability to support database platforms including MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or similar systems in production environments.

Proficient in supporting containerized workloads using Docker and basic Kubernetes concepts.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing efficiency and delivering results with minimal supervision.

Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operational environment if required.

Ability to provide hands-on operational support during critical incidents or when support team capacity is constrained.

Has great interpersonal skills. Works well in a team. Collaborates with technical and production teams. Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to hoist up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with equipment installation, rack mounting, and data center operations.

Solid documentation discipline, including creation of build guides, runbooks, and operational standards.

AI-conscious mindset, with interest in understanding how AI-assisted tools can support troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and operational efficiency.

Hands-on administration of Active Directory, including users, security groups, and access controls is a plus.

Experience with broadcast platforms (Mimir, Avid, VizRT, Telestream, Dalet, Grass Valley), codecs/formats, or media infrastructure is a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 135,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.This position is bonus eligible.
