Import/Export Operations Specialist
The Import/Export Operations Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing the international shipment of goods, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and maintaining efficient logistics operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of global trade processes, and effective communication with vendors, carriers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee import and export shipments from origin to destination.
- Prepare and review shipping documents such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs documentation.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
- Communicate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure timely delivery.
- Track shipments and resolve any delays, discrepancies, or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions.
- Monitor shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Collaborate with internal departments including procurement, warehouse, and customer service.
- Stay up to date with changes in import/export laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in import/export operations or international logistics.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, HTS classification, and Incoterms.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software systems.
