Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal counsel on elder law, estate planning, trust administration, and estate administration matters
• Draft, prepare, and review essential legal documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and advance directives
• Represent clients in probate proceedings and estate administration cases
• Advise individuals and families on asset protection strategies and wealth preservation
• Guide clients through Medicaid planning, eligibility determinations, and application processes
• Interpret federal and state laws, regulations, and rulings related to elder law and estate planning in New York
• Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff while independently managing a diverse caseload
• Stay current on legal developments, legislative changes, and updates to Medicaid rules and estate planning laws
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and exceptional client service
• Conduct client consultations to assess needs and develop customized estate planning solutions

Qualifications & Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active member in good standing with the New York State Bar
• Minimum of 3 years of legal experience specializing in elder law, estate planning, and estate administration
• Deep knowledge of New York State elder law, trust and estate law, and Medicaid regulations
• Proven expertise in Medicaid planning, eligibility requirements, and application procedures
• Demonstrated experience in estate administration and probate matters
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to interpret and explain complex legal concepts to clients in an accessible manner
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
