Senior production supervisor

The Senior Production Supervisor oversees and manages the daily operations within assigned production areas or shifts. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of production schedules, maintaining quality standards, optimizing operational efficiency, and providing leadership to a team of production workers. The Senior Production Supervisor also plays a key role in driving process improvements and supporting cross-functional collaboration to meet organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of production workers, ensuring they operate machinery, assemble products, perform quality control checks, and package goods in accordance with established production standards.
  • Foster a positive and efficient work environment through effective communication, motivation, and performance management.
  • Monitor production output in assigned areas, ensuring adherence to established schedules, quality targets, and efficiency goals.
  • Address production bottlenecks or delays by implementing corrective actions to maintain continuous workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Identify equipment issues, coordinate with maintenance or engineering teams for repairs or preventive maintenance and ensure minimal production downtime.
  • Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and operational, driving proactive measures to avoid delays or breakdowns.
  • Manage inventory levels in assigned production areas to ensure there is enough material to meet production demands without excess stock.
  • Ensure the department is staffed appropriately based on production needs, and coordinate scheduling and staffing adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Ensure that production processes comply with internal quality standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the implementation of quality control procedures to maintain high standards in finished goods.
  • Enforce 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying and implementing process efficiencies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation, including production logs, inventory reports, and shift reports, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., maintenance, engineering, quality assurance, etc.) to resolve operational issues and ensure seamless communication across teams.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Strong ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and skill development.
  • Strong decision-making abilities with a proven track record of identifying issues, analyzing problems, and implementing effective solutions in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and effectively plan resources to meet production targets.
  • Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to assess production data, identify process inefficiencies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • In-depth understanding of safety, environmental, and quality standards, with a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and compliant production environment.


Qualifications (Required)

  • Education: Bachelor's
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
