Barista
ALTBAU is a new bakery, cafe, and community and event space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, led by Chad Robertson, founder of Tartine Bakery, and slated to open in Fall 2026. We are seeking reliable and motivated baristas to join our opening café team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, matcha and other café beverages with consistency and care
- Provide attentive, warm, and efficient customer service
- Accurately process payments using our point-of-sale system
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station and coffee bar, including clearing the condiment station and restocking supplies
- Collaborate with the bakery and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service during busy periods
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Assist with opening, closing, and other daily operational tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Prior barista or café experience is required
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Ability to safely operate espresso machines, coffee equipment, and other food service tools.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to fifty pounds
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
