Project Architect/Manager
Shakespeare Gordon Studio Architects is looking for a Project Architect/Project Manager to join its practice in Brooklyn, NY. The firm seeks to hire a full-time architect/designer to help develop and execute architectural design through all project phases in support of our 22-person architectural practice with a focus on project leadership. The ideal candidate is energetic, talented and organized with a minimum of five continuous years of previous experience, who enjoys working in a creative environment on a range of project scales and types. Strong design, managerial and leadership skills required. Familiarity with BIM is strongly preferred. New York State architectural license, Passive House and/or LEED accreditation are a plus.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with principals, associates and other team members on detail-oriented projects, including private residential, larger multi-family buildings and academic projects
- Work on all phases of the design/documentation process including construction administration and project management.
- Perform and/or supervise design and drafting of production of design drawings.
- Manage client and consultant communications.
- Coordinate design drawings including work by consultants including structural and MEP engineers.
- Help mentor and train junior project team members.
Qualifications:
- Professional Degree (B.Arch or M.Arch)
- Five years of relevant work experience minimum including experience with construction administration
- Strong proficiency in recent versions of AutoCAD, BIM, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time with excellent organizational and communications skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Working knowledge of NYC building codes and zoning
- Interest in contemporary architecture and design culture
- Dependability, professionalism and a positive attitude are a must
- Fluent English speaker
- Eligible to work in NYC immediately -- candidates must be currently residing in the NYC area, be US citizens or hold a current US work visa that is valid for a minimum of two years
You will join our dynamic office to work on current and new projects as a team member and/or leader. The work is 100% in-office in our Gowanus, Brooklyn studio. We offer a salary of between $80,000-$110,000 depending on experience, along with a substantial benefits package including two weeks of paid vacation, paid holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year’s off; medical and dental insurance, and a 401K plan with matching contributions.
