CATERING KITCHEN TEAM MEMBER
PART TIME & ON-CALL POSITION
Dish Food & Events, an award-winning catering and events company located in the heart of NYC, is searching for Catering Kitchen Team members. As an integral part of our event production team, the Production Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and portioning high-quality food according to established specifications for large-scale production and off-site catering.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in off-site catering, a commissary, or a high-volume production kitchen. They should demonstrate excellent knife skills, a strong ability to follow directions and recipes, and proficiency in safely operating various kitchen equipment. Experience with high-volume canapé and hors d'oeuvre production is highly desirable. They thrive under pressure with a sense of urgency and can multitask while maintaining consistent product quality and meeting deadlines. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with Department of Health compliance are key. The candidate must be physically able to lift over 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
A collaborative team player, they are willing to assist wherever needed, including event pack-out and inventory tasks. Knowledge of pastry is a plus but not required. Above all, they possess a genuine desire to learn and grow within the company, embracing all policies and procedures with professionalism and respect.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Minimum 1 year experience working in off site catering, in a commissary or large scale production kitchen
- Excellent knife skills and the ability to safely operate kitchen equipment.
- Proficient in setting up and maintaining a clean workstation, familiarity with DOH compliance.
- Experience in high-volume canapé and hors d'oeuvre production.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency, meet production deadlines, and strong organizational skills.
- Competence in properly wrapping, labeling, and storing products, and assisting with inventory maintenance.
- Capable of multitasking while maintaining consistent product quality.
- Ability to lift over 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Strong ability to follow directions and recipes.
- A collaborative team player willing to assist where needed.
- Experience in expediting event pack-out is a plus.
- Knowledge of pastry is a plus but not required.
- A strong desire to learn and grow within the company.
