The Place:
Nestled in the heart of SoHo at The Mercer, Sartiano’s combines Italian heritage and fare with a modern fine dining experience. Sartiano’s was created by prominent lifestyle architect, Scott Sartiano, with culinary direction from three-time James Beard award winner Chef Alfred Portale.
The Role:
Polishers are dynamic hospitality and maintenance professionals responsible for ensuring that each piece of glassware and flatware is inspected for flaws and polished to a shine before re-entering service. Polishers work with all members of the Back of House and Front of House Service team to ensure a smooth continuation of service.
Responsibilities:
- Polish and prepare glassware, silverware, and utensils for service
- Inspect items to ensure they meet cleanliness and presentation standards
- Handle items carefully to avoid breakage
- Stock dining room service stations with glassware, silverware, and utensils
- Maintain a clean and organized polishing station
- Support kitchen and service staff as needed during busy periods
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
- Ability to speak, understand, and follow verbal instructions in English
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards in a food service setting
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexible schedule based on the needs of Sartianos, their programming, and peak times
