Assistant Professor of Public Health

Assistant Professor of Public Health: The Public Health program at Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2026, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Public Health to complement our interdisciplinary program with existing strengths in epidemiology and global health. We will consider candidates with training in disciplines such as Public Health, Environmental Science, Biology, Medicine, Medical Anthropology, Health Policy, and other relevant fields. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working both in the field of public health and in an academic setting. We are seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about educating undergraduate students in public health and are eager to contribute to the college’s general education, mentorship, and career-preparation curriculum. The region surrounding Hartwick offers the successful candidate opportunities to conduct research on rural community health and/or refugee health and to partner with county health departments, nonprofit public health organizations, and researchers at Bassett Healthcare Network.

Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree in Public Health or a closely related field by the time of the appointment. Specific teaching assignments will include introductory courses such as Foundations of Public Health and, possibly, in Global Public Health. The selected candidate will also be expected to develop additional public health courses and electives in the candidate’s areas of expertise. These may include STEM-oriented courses in environmental health, advanced epidemiology, and/or the biology of human disease, or social and behavioral science courses in program planning, health disparities, or public health policy. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. Tenure-track faculty are expected to actively engage in scholarly or creative activities. Committee service, including campus wide and departmental governance, and academic advising are expected for re-appointment, tenure, and promotion.

Salary Range: $60,000-$63,000
