Project Manager - Landscaping Installation

Location: Tuxedo Park, NY

Compensation: $25–$50/hour (based on experience)

Project Duration: Estimated 100–200 hours per property

Position Term: This is a project-based term position for the duration of the landscape installation projects only.

Start Date: ASAP (time-sensitive planting schedule)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee the ordering, delivery, installation, and post-installation establishment of landscaping for two residential properties in Tuxedo Park, NY. All landscape plans have already been approved and finalized.

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing landscape plans, coordinating installation teams, and ensuring quality execution for long-term plant health and landscape longevity. We are also open to strong interns or recent graduates with relevant education, internship experience, or demonstrated interest in landscape management, horticulture, construction management, or landscape architecture.

This role requires frequent onsite presence and hands-on oversight throughout the installation process and early establishment period.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee landscape installation and site development activities across more than 5 acres of active project area within two residential estates totaling 25 acres.
• Review and interpret approved landscape plans and specifications
• Verify plant material, layout, grading, soil preparation, and installation details align with plans and best practices
• Coordinate ordering and delivery schedules for plant materials, irrigation components, soil amendments, and related materials
• Manage communication between property owners, contractors, nurseries, and installation crews
• Conduct onsite inspections during installation to ensure:
• Proper planting depth and spacing
• Appropriate soil preparation and drainage
• Correct staking, mulching, and root handling
• Long-term plant health and survivability
• Monitor installation quality and identify corrective actions when necessary
• Oversee punch-list completion and project closeout
• Provide post-installation irrigation and watering recommendations tailored to the installed landscape and seasonal conditions
• Advise on establishment timelines and maintenance priorities during the first growing season

Qualifications

• Experience managing residential landscape installation projects preferred
• Strong understanding of horticulture, planting practices, drainage, and irrigation fundamentals
• Ability to read and review landscape architectural plans and specifications
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to coordinate contractors, deliveries, and installation timelines
• Familiarity with plant establishment best practices in the Northeast climate
• Ability to be onsite in Tuxedo Park, NY as needed throughout the project
