Professional Housekeeper/Cook For Private Family

We are seeking an experienced Housekeeper/Cook to join a welcoming and busy household on the UES of New York, NY. Position Overview The ideal candidate will be mature, energetic, and detail-oriented, capable of managing both routine and special cleaning projects, as well as preparing family-style meals. The family values a collaborative, respectful, and thoughtful environment, and the successful candidate will be integral to ensuring the smooth daily operation of the home. This is not a formal household, but high standards are expected. Key Responsibilities Working with a second Housekeeper, maintain the cleanliness and orderly operation of the home, including specialty care for fine furnishings, artwork, antiques, and marble surfaces. Collaborate with the existing household team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Prepare family-style dinner five nights per week and ensure the kitchen is well-stocked with fresh ingredients. Perform laundry duties and wardrobe care. There is weekly ironing support. Assist with basic errands such as grocery shopping, managing household supplies, and dry-cleaning pick-up. Pitch-in with light pet care as needed (dog walking, feeding). Occasionally assist with dinner parties and other special events, including set-up and clean-up. Qualifications Prior experience in a similar Housekeeper/Cook role for a private family, particularly in a fine home setting with school-age children. Excellent cooking skills with a focus on family-style meals; formal culinary training is not required, but a passion for food and the ability to follow recipes and family preferences is essential. Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks. Impeccable references, both professional and personal. A discreet, professional demeanor with a positive and cheerful attitude. Comfortable working in a busy household with children and a well-trained dog. Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both principals and other staff members. Must be flexible with working hours, willing to accommodate occasional changes in routine or schedule. The ability to drive is considered a plus. Compensation & Benefits Compensation: $45-55/hour, depending on experience. Schedule: Generally, Monday to Friday, 10:30 am - 7:30 pm, with flexibility required.
