The Opportunity
The Dominck P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience and The Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine - Montefiore Medicine invite applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in basic or translational Alzheimer’s disease and aging research, to be the Co-Director for the Center of Alzheimer’s Disease Research . Bridging both the Departments of Neurology and Neuroscience, this recruitment is part of a strategic effort to develop an interdisciplinary Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Einstein-Montefiore that spans basic discovery through early detection, risk stratification, and translational implementation across the lifespan.
Albert Einstein is seeking applicants with a proven track record of research excellence with robust extramural funding, who are addressing critical questions with innovative and bold approaches. Areas of interest include but are not limited to work using animal models, organoids/assembloids, human neuropathological materials, novel disease biomarkers and aging clocks, and computational, cognitive, or systems neuroscience. The Co-Director will report jointly to Mark Mehler, MD, Professor and Chair, The Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology, and Adam Kohn, PhD, Professor and Chair, Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience.
This recruitment represents a significant strategic investment by Einstein-Montefiore in the future of Alzheimer's disease and aging research. Building upon decades of scientific leadership and the strength of the NIH/NIA Einstein Aging Study, New York State Montefiore Einstein Hudson Valley Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease (CEAD), Montefiore Einstein Center for the Aging Brain (CAB), Department of Neurology Division of Brain and Cognitive Health Technologies as well as three major NIH U grants focused on Cognitive Biotechnologies interrogating Aging and Dementia and associated comorbidities across the lifespan, the institution is seeking a transformative leader who can accelerate the growth of a highly integrated research enterprise and help further position Einstein-Montefiore among the nation's leading biomedical hubs for Alzheimer's disease discovery, prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic innovation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the next generation of interdisciplinary neuroscience research while advancing Einstein's long-term vision for expanded national leadership and competitiveness in Alzheimer's disease research and funding initiatives.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
- Applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD, MD, or equivalent degree.
- The Co-Director will be a nationally recognized leader in basic and/or translational research in Alzheimer’s Disease and Neuroscience with a strong track record of academic achievement, operational leadership, and innovation in program building.
- Successful candidates are expected to establish and maintain a vibrant research program that will be supported by extramural funding, including collaborative and team-science mechanisms.

Compensation
- The base salary range for this position is $220,000 - $300,000 / annually. Einstein considers factors including (but not limited to) candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
