The Mount Sinai Department of Neurology is recruiting for a Part-time/Per Diem Neuro-oncologist to care for patients admitted to the Mount Sinai Hospital.
This Part-time/Per Diem position involves inpatient neuro-oncology work within the New York City based Mount Sinai Health System, where you will provide high quality care for patients admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital. General Neurology, acute stroke and neurovascular diseases are not included in this role, as these are separately managed by our world-class Neuro Hospitalist and Stroke Teams. You will frequently collaborate with our superb neurosurgical and neurological subspecialists. Given the Department’s close connection with the Icahn School of Medicine and multiple residency and fellowship training programs, teaching opportunities may be available for qualified and interested candidates. Opportunities include weekday and/or weeknight coverage. Over time, coverage needs may change or be flexible.
The rapidly expanding neuro-oncology program at Mount Sinai has one of the largest brain tumor clinical volumes in NYC, with clinical trials enrolling brain tumor patients in the Tisch Cancer Institute. New multidisciplinary brain cancer clinics exist within the health system. The Brain Tumor Research Program at Mount Sinai currently has seven highly collaborative NIH-funded brain tumor research laboratories. Mount Sinai is a founding partner institution for the $300 million New York Proton Center, New York State’s first proton therapy facility, which opened in July 2019 in Upper Manhattan.
The Department of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has an active UCNS accredited neuro-oncology fellowship training program to educate the next generation of brain tumor specialists. Neuro-oncology faculty also teach adult neurology residents during their required neuro-oncology rotations and Icahn School of Medicine medical students on neuro-oncology electives.Mount Sinai’s Department of Neurology is strongly committed to caring for the whole patient and places special emphasis on providing patient-centered care, embracing the mission of the Icahn School of Medicine by pursuing an integrative approach to patient care, research, and education. Candidates must have excellent clinical skills and an interest in inpatient neuro oncology consultation.

- Medical Degree from an Accredited University
- New York Medical License/Active NYS DEA
- ABPN certification in Neurology
- Subspecialty fellowship training and board certification (or board eligible) in neuro-oncology
- Outstanding communication, bedside manner, and professionalism; excellent organizational skills
- A strong work ethic and capability for effective collaboration in the multi-disciplinary care of patients with CNS tumors, including evaluation and enrollment in clinical trials
- Ability to respectfully collaborate and build relationships with teammates
Compensation is $300 per diem/hourly

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
