Position Summary
Happy Maryann Day School is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic 4K Teaching Assistant to support our early childhood classrooms. The ideal candidate will assist lead teachers in delivering developmentally appropriate instruction while helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for our 4K students.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education, enjoys working collaboratively across classrooms, and can effectively communicate with both students and families in Mandarin and English .

Key Responsibilities

• Classroom Support
  Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate, play-based curriculum aligned with early childhood education standards.
• Student Supervision & Engagement
  Ensure the safety, well-being, and active engagement of children during instructional time, centers, meals, transitions, and outdoor play.
• Behavior & Classroom Management
  Support positive behavior strategies, encourage social-emotional development, and help create an inclusive, respectful classroom culture.
• Individualized Student Support
  Provide additional assistance to students who may need extra academic, social, or behavioral support to fully participate in classroom activities.
• Family Communication
  Communicate effectively with children and families in Mandarin and English , and assist in sharing daily updates and observations as directed by the Lead Teacher or administration.
• Health & Safety Compliance
  Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and secure learning environment.
• Classroom Preparation
  Help prepare learning materials, organize classroom supplies, and support daily instructional activities.
• Professional Growth
  Participate in professional development and training related to early childhood education and best practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Coursework or training in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Prior experience working with young children in a classroom or daycare setting
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Fluent in Mandarin and English (required)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Patient, flexible, dependable, and nurturing personality
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Additional early childhood certifications are a plus.

Job Details

• Job Type: Full-Time
• Pay Rate: $18–$20 per hour (based on experience)
• Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday–Friday

Location Requirement:

• Flushing, NY 11354 — must reliably commute or plan to relocate before start date
• Work Location: In person
