General Education Science Teacher for ICT Classroom

Community Action School is Hiring a Science Teacher or DOE-Approved Substitute Teacher!

Community Action School, a small Title 1 DOE middle school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is seeking a science teacher or DOE-approved substitute teacher to join our team for the remainder of the school year.

We are looking for a dedicated, collaborative educator who is comfortable teaching middle school science and excited to work in a co-teaching environment. This is a general education position, and candidates must already be DOE approved to work as a substitute or be eligible for hire as a new teacher.

About the Role:

• Teach and co-teach three sections of 8th grade biology and one section of 7th grade science
• Collaborate closely with co-teachers to plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Foster a classroom environment grounded in inquiry, critical thinking, and student voice
• Participate in team meetings, co-planning time, and professional collaboration

Qualifications:

• Must be DOE approved as a substitute teacher or eligible for hire as a new DOE teacher
• Comfortable teaching middle school science, including 8th grade biology content
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to equity and inclusive instructional practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
