Legal Practice Assistant

Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 DOE

A leading international firm is seeking a high-functioning Legal Practice Assistant for its New York office. This role provides critical, high-level support to multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who masters the balance between complex litigation filings and sophisticated transactional administration.
Core Responsibilities:
- Litigation & Appellate: Format, proofread, and cite-check appellate briefs; manage State and Federal ECF filings with absolute accuracy.
- Transactional Support: Draft and redline contracts and pleadings using comparison software; facilitate new client/matter intake and conflicts tasks.
- Document Management: Organize high-volume electronic files in iManage/NetDocs using standardized naming conventions and data maintenance in Excel.
- Executive Coordination: Manage complex attorney calendars, multi-departmental meeting logistics, catering, IT needs, and domestic/international travel.
- Financial Admin: Oversee attorney time entry and prepare detailed electronic expense reports.
- Communication: Serve as a professional liaison between attorneys, clients, and internal departments while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of legal assistant experience across Transactional and Litigation practices (Appellate experience highly preferred).
- Technical Skills: Mastery of MS Office (Advanced Excel), iManage/NetDocs, and State/Federal electronic court filing systems.
- Operational Strengths: Exceptional proofreading, grammar, and typing speed; ability to handle overtime as needed for trial or closing deadlines.
- Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred.
