Senior Designer - Toddler Girls
About the Company
We are a prominent children's apparel organization specializing in both licensed and private label programs for major retail partners throughout the United States.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer to lead the development of innovative collections across multiple product categories. This role requires a strong creative vision, market awareness, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to bring trend-right, commercially successful products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop seasonal apparel collections that align with current trends, customer preferences, and brand objectives.
- Research market trends, competitor assortments, and emerging opportunities to inspire new product concepts and design strategies.
- Collaborate with Sales, Merchandising, and other internal teams to identify customer needs and support seasonal business goals.
- Help define seasonal product direction, assortment strategies, and category priorities.
- Generate innovative design ideas that capitalize on market opportunities and resonate with target consumers.
- Manage project calendars and oversee development timelines to ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Associate Designers while partnering closely with Graphic Designers on seasonal initiatives.
- Review and approve design concepts prior to production as required.
- Lead fit sessions and coordinate product handoffs with Product Development and Technical Design teams.
- Work alongside costing partners to ensure products meet target price points while maintaining design integrity.
- Evaluate technical packages for accuracy and completeness throughout the sampling and production process.
- Approve lab dips, strike-offs, fabric selections, and production samples to ensure quality and aesthetic standards are achieved.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Design role within the apparel industry.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, along with excellent sketching and rendering abilities.
- 3D experience is preferred, but not required
- Proven experience designing apparel in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Knowledge of licensed apparel programs is a plus, though not required.
- Deep understanding of fashion trends, garment construction, fabric development, and market positioning.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Must be based in the New York City area or willing to relocate, as this position requires onsite attendance.
