Hi, we’re Speks, a Brooklyn-based product design company creating premium sensory products for teens and adults. We sell globally across wholesale, retail, and DTC, and we’re growing fast.

We’re looking for a hands-on Director of Production to lead production execution, factory management, purchasing operations, quality control, and supply chain coordination across the business.

This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for building the production function from the ground up, establishing processes, systems, and partnerships to support the company’s next stage of growth. To ensure products are produced on time, meet quality standards, and move efficiently from factory to warehouse across both B2B and DTC channels. You’ll work closely with existing factories, logistics partners, operations, demand planning, customer operations, and leadership to drive operational execution across a growing global business.

This is a full-time, in-office role based in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

What You’ll Do

Production & Factory Leadership

• Lead production planning and execution across factories and product lines
• Own factory relationships and maintain accountability against production timelines and commitments
• Oversee production schedules, purchasing timelines, and shipment readiness
• Coordinate production priorities across sales, operations, and inventory planning teams
• Conduct regular performance reviews and develop supplier scorecards
• Identify and onboard new suppliers as needed

Purchasing & Supply Chain Management

• Oversee purchase order execution and supplier coordination
• Help optimize lead times, MOQ strategy, and production efficiency
• Coordinate inbound inventory timing with demand planning and sales.
• Maintain operational visibility across purchasing, production, and inventory flow
• Support operational planning around launches, promotions, and major retail programs

Quality Control & Vendor Performance

• Lead factory and third-party QC processes
• Maintain product quality standards across vendors and production runs
• Oversee corrective actions related to quality issues and production defects
• Monitor factory performance including quality, responsiveness, and on-time production
• Drive continuous improvement across production and QC systems

Retail & Global Distributor Execution

• Oversee production execution for major retail accounts including Walmart, Target, Barnes & Noble, international distributors, and other key partners
• Ensure products with retailer, distributor, and country-specific requirements in partnership with the sales and demand planning teams.

Import & Inbound Logistics

• Own inbound logistics from factory to warehouse (ocean, air, etc.)
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and logistics partners
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance for imports
• Optimize transit times and shipping modes (cost vs speed trade-offs)
• Maintain clear inbound visibility and timelines

Leadership & Operational Improvement

• Help build scalable production and operational systems as the business grows
• Improve processes, reporting, and operational visibility across production and supply chain
• Mentor and support junior operations and production team members
• Partner closely with leadership on operational planning and execution

Travel Requirement

• Willingness to travel internationally (to China) to visit factories, conduct quality reviews, strengthen supplier relationships.

What We’re Looking For

• 8-12+ years of experience in production, supply chain, purchasing, or manufacturing operations within consumer products
• Strong experience working with overseas manufacturers, especially China
• Deep understanding of production timelines, factory management, purchasing, and inventory flow
• Experience managing QC processes, inspections, and vendor accountability
• Experience supporting major retail accounts like Walmart or Target is strongly preferred
• Experience working with global distributors is a plus
• Strong organizational, communication, and operational leadership skills
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
• Proven ability to build processes in growing companies
