Assistant Principal (PreK-8th Grade)

12-Month Position | 2026–2027 School Year
Saint Benedict School is seeking a dedicated, mission-driven Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year. The Assistant Principal is a member of the school leadership team and assists the Principal with the day-to-day operations of the school, instructional leadership, and continuous school improvement efforts.
Located on Main Street in Amherst, New York, Saint Benedict School serves nearly 450 students in Pre-K3 through Grade 8 and continues to grow. We are a Catholic school committed to providing a high-quality, faith-based education that nurtures the academic, spiritual, social, and moral development of each student in a safe and supportive environment. Our community values strong relationships, high academic standards, discipline, respect, and service grounded in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The Assistant Principal reports directly to the Principal and is a full-time, 12-month, exempt salaried employee.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist the Principal in defining and communicating the school’s mission, goals, and expectations, and contribute to continuous school improvement efforts
- Provide instructional leadership, in collaboration with the Principal, including implementation, coordination, and supervision of the instructional program
- Monitor and assess student achievement and participation using appropriate data collection and analysis
- Assist in supervising and evaluating school personnel
- Foster a positive and productive school climate through collaboration with faculty, staff, and students
- Administer and coordinate school discipline and maintain required records
- Coordinate and supervise student activities
- Support professional growth and leadership development
- Assist with school organization, scheduling, student placement, evaluation, and support services
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, parish leadership, and the broader community
- Participate in school fundraising, marketing, and development activities as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic preferred, with the ability to model Christian values, adhere to Church teachings, and demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education
- Master’s degree in educational administration, supervision, curriculum development, or education (preferred)
- New York State certification or comparable certification (e.g., Childhood Education, School Building Leader, or related)
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience
- Demonstrated leadership ability with the capacity to inspire students, faculty, staff, and families
- Employment contingent upon satisfactory state and federal background checks, completion of VIRTUS training, reference checks, and required documentation
Salary
- Starting at $45,000 annually
- Full-time, 12-month exempt position
