General Purpose
The Bakery Lead provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means providing outstanding customer service, keeping the counter, cases, and tables stocked, neat, clean and attractive, and being the final line for quality control in the department.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Manager, adjunct Manager, Bakery manager

Job Description

»Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and expertiseable service

»Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams

»Take customer orders both in person and on the phone

»Package fresh baked goods for sale ; &nb sp;

»Be aware of sale items and pricing

»Maintain full expertise of Bakery product line and pricing

»Rotate products to keep older product in front and stock cases and sale tables, making sure each package is correctly labeled and there are no empty spaces; rotate cakes to keep oldest in back

»Keep sale tables and showcases organized, visually pleasing, and clean

»Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put into the case

»Must place baked goods in oven and remove when cooked

»Track waste with handheld system &nb sp; & nbsp;

»Assist Bakers/Decorators/Porter as needed

»Set up cookies and muffins for baking

»Seasonal donut making - standing for entire shift outdoors in hot and cold weather, frying donuts,serving customers and working a cash register, setting up and breaking down the donut station

»Responsible for table par sheets

»Responsible for keeping tables full all over the day

»If assigned, supervise employees

»If assigned, order product and maintain inventory; keep manager informed of inventory levels

»If assigned, finish cakes and donuts for display

»If assigned, produce single-serve items such as parfaits and pudding cups

»If assigned, write on cakes

»If assigned, finish off donuts

»Receive deliveries; check delivery ticket against what was ordered and product received

»Make apple cider donuts

»Clean dishes and equipment used and put them away once dry

»Clean cases, including wiping shelves and keeping glass clean at all times

»Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counter, cases, coolers, preparation, and production areas

»When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand

Physical Requirements &nb sp;

»Consistently lift and move 50 pounds

»Stand for duration of shift

»Climb up and down a stepstool, stepladder, and ladder &nb sp; & nbsp;

»Use hands, wrists, fingers and arms for duration of shift

»Safely operate bread slicer, donut machine, box cutter, and all other equipment necessary to run the department ; &nb sp; & nbsp;

»Use the compactor and cardboard crusher for disposing of garbage and recycling

Qualifications

»Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers

»Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers

»Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs

»Must be able to work scheduled shift

»Follow all department safety policies and procedures

»Be able to concentrate on tasks in order to avoid injury and waste of product

»Be expertiseable about Adams product- recommend ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating Adams product
