Engineering Manager, Design Accelerator

About The Role As an engineering manager in the Platform Area, you will lead one of our teams in supporting the engineering needs of the rest of Duolingo. Design Accelerator, Design Tools- This team is responsible for making Duolingo an engaging and animated character-focused experience. The team builds tools and uses new technology to create content and experiences used across the app, from generated videos for Monetization to images and games for Learning. .
As the Engineering Manager you will craft and implement a vision for evaluating new technology, de-risking and scaling for multiple projects, collaborating with product partners and engineering teams across the company.
You will...- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of tooling, AI, and graphics experts to build visual, animated and interactive content.
- Deliver and maintain a long term roadmap for work within the team and coordinate that planning with product engineering throughout the company.
- Leverage AI to help drive technical projects and provide innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Guide, prioritize, and communicate the team's quarterly objectives and accomplishments to peer leaders and the broader engineering organization.
- Mentor engineers and help cultivate their career aspirations.
- 2+ years of experience leading, managing, and building a team of software engineers.
- 5+ years in software development focused on content or animation creation.
- Have a record of owning the execution of successful technical projects that span multiple engineers over multiple weeks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience designing and building scalable content pipelines.
- Experience with specific tools Unity, Rive, or related tools.
- Experience building custom internal tooling for designers.
- Deep understanding of procedural and generative graphics and media creation.
