About the Position: Our Strategic Communications Senior Consultant leads and supports strategic communications initiatives for client-facing work, including the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic communication plans and products. This role also mentors, develops, and coaches our team members while shaping and leading projects, developing relationships with clients, and contributing to business development in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead data gathering and stakeholder analysis efforts, including conducting interviews, surveys and other quantitative and qualitative research to inform strategic communications planning and execution.
- Design and develop compelling, high-quality strategic communications products (e.g. talking points, briefings, reports, briefing cards, presentations, one-pagers, press releases, memos, etc.) in partnership with Rockwood's visual designers.
- Draft targeted strategic communications plans, identifying the appropriate audiences and channels and developing tailored messaging for specific audiences, using proven methodologies and frameworks.
- Guide project work through creative and diligent project planning, crafting project approaches, assigning roles and responsibilities, monitoring success and managing risks, discussing needs and options with clients, etc.
- Design, facilitate, and manage client strategy sessions to shape messaging priorities, align communication objectives with mission goals, and inform stakeholder engagement across military, civilian, and interagency audiences.
- Develop relationships with clients and key stakeholders to align communications strategies with mission objectives, enhance project outcomes and inform follow-on work or new work opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of proposals, which includes writing content and advising on approaches.
- Identify future needs of existing clients (beyond current project outcomes) and work with Rockwood leadership to develop approaches for securing work.
Required Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (other federal agency clearances considered)
- Eight (8) plus years of relevant work experience in strategic communications, including management consultant experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Department of Defense and experience developing strategic communications plans for unclassified and classified programs and a diverse set of stakeholders
- Willing to work full-time (5 days a week) at client sites in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in communications, public relations or a related field
- Additional consulting-related education/certifications
- Change management certification (i.e. Lean Six Sigma, Prosci)

Salary Range: The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000.00. Your salary may vary within this range depending on a wide range of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
