Entry-Level Architectural Designer

Location : Greenpoint Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid – Minimum 3 Days/Week In-Office)

Position Type : Full-Time

About DEMO

DEMO is a collaborative, design-driven architecture practice based in Brooklyn that specializes in people-first, sustainable design and detailing, with a strong focus on high-performance and Certified Passive House projects that improve the lives of their inhabitants. Guided by a philosophy of demonstration through practice, we prioritize competence, clear communication, and thoughtful problem-solving to create healthy, energy-efficient buildings where what goes behind the wall is cared for just as much as the surface.

Role Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, technically curious, and talented Entry-Level Architectural Designer with 0–3 years of experience to join our Brooklyn team in a hybrid capacity.

Position Overview & Responsibilities

In this role, you will be an active contributor to our iterative design and technical processes, helping us find balance between high-level design and rigorous detailing. Standard expectations include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction documentation packages primarily utilizing a Revit workflow.
  • Generating high-quality, real-time 3D spatial renderings, walkthroughs, and presentation materials primarily using Enscape to clearly communicate design decisions to clients.
  • Supporting the development of healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient building strategies, including learning and applying Passive House principles.
  • Participating in internal design charrettes, clear team communications, and studio problem-solving sessions.
  • Performing product, material, and code research to find sustainable, people-first design solutions under the direction of a Project Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited program. An interest or background in sustainable design or Passive House principles is highly valued.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of professional architecture studio experience (strong, relevant internships will be considered).

Software Proficiency:

  • Fluency in Revit is a must. Candidates should be entirely comfortable navigating models, setting up sheets, and managing technical drawing workflows from day one.
  • Enscape or other rendering software: must be knowledgeable with rendering software to quickly learn Enscape and work directly within Revit to rapidly test textures, lighting, and spatial layouts.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for presentation layouts.

Core Capabilities:

  • Exceptional competence, clarity in communication, and a proactive attitude toward solving new problems.
  • High attention to graphic precision and building detailing.
  • Must be able to work out of our Brooklyn studio a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Benefits & Growth

  • Direct mentorship and active tracking/support for the AXP (Architectural Experience Program) and NCARB registration on the path to licensure.
  • Hands-on exposure to high-performance building design and Passive House methodologies.
  • Comprehensive healthcare, vision, and dental benefits.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.
  • Studio professional development assistance.

Salary Range

$58,000 – $68,000 annually

In compliance with NYC salary transparency guidelines, the offered base salary will be commensurate with the candidate's exact level of experience, portfolio visualization depth, and technical Revit proficiency.

How To Apply

Please submit your application materials directly via Archinect or email us at ***email_hidden***.

Your Application Must Include

  • A brief cover letter outlining your background, interest in sustainable/people-first design, and your approach to architectural problem-solving.
  • A resume/CV highlighting your software capabilities.
  • A curated PDF portfolio (Max 10MB) or link to an online portfolio. Please make sure your portfolio includes examples of project modeling or technical drawings completed in Revit, alongside rendering work outputted via Enscape.

DEMO Architects is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to creating an inclusive studio environment for all team members.
