Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Possible Extension)

Shift: 11.5 hours a day, 3 shifts a week.

Shift Type: Days 7:00 AM-7:30 PM

Weekly Hours: 34.5 hours weekly

Job Overview:

A Registered Nurse (RN) – Cath Lab provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures in a highly acute care setting. The role involves assisting with cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, stent placements, and other invasive procedures, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Cath Lab RNs work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, requiring strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Responsibilities include monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures, administering medications, maintaining sterile technique, and collaborating closely with cardiologists and the interdisciplinary team. The role emphasizes precision, patient safety, and adherence to strict clinical protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and other interventional procedures.
• Prepare patients for procedures, including assessment, consent verification, and pre-procedure education.
• Monitor patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and hemodynamic status before, during, and after procedures.
• Administer medications, including conscious sedation, anticoagulants, and emergency drugs as required.
• Maintain a sterile environment and ensure proper handling of instruments and equipment.
• Respond promptly to emergencies such as arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, or complications during procedures.
• Operate and monitor specialized Cath Lab equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring systems.
• Provide post-procedure care, including sheath removal, site management, and patient recovery monitoring.
• Educate patients and families on post-procedure care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, radiology staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care accurately in EMR/EHR systems in compliance with hospital policies.
• Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.

RN01

Required Qualifications:

• NY active RN License
• Active BLS AHA
• 2 years of RN - Cath Lab experience
• Active ACLS AHA
