Social Worker

- Days: 5 per week, Monday – Friday
- Compensation: $65,000- $67,000
The Youth Mental Health Manager plays a central role in Flatbush Development Corporation’s commitment to supporting the mental health and social-emotional learning (SEL) of young people. This position is responsible for the integration, coordination, and oversight of SEL and mental health initiatives across elementary and middle school programs. The manager supervises a team of MSW interns, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and ensures the delivery of high-quality mental health services aligned with best practices and OCFS/DYCD standards. In addition, this role manages participants’ Individualized Accommodation Plans (IAPs), Behavioral Support Plans, and related services, ensuring equitable access and support for students with disabilities and English Language Learners (ELLs). PROGRAM STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENT
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for integrating SEL and mental health supports across all programs.
- Design strategies aligned with program objectives to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of participants.
- Collaborate with Program Directors and social work interns to launch, monitor, and assess multi-tiered SEL and mental health programs.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with evidence-based practices in program design and execution.
- Supervise and mentor MSW interns, supporting their professional development and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Facilitate guidance, coaching, and feedback to build the skills and confidence of staff in mental health and SEL interventions.
- Develop training materials and manuals to equip staff with practical tools for supporting participants’ social-emotional growth.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions to strengthen staff capacity in mental health practices and crisis response.
- Implement data collection systems to evaluate the effectiveness of SEL and mental health initiatives.
- Analyze program data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and evidence-based strategies.
- Develop evaluation frameworks to measure impact and refine programmatic approaches based on outcomes.
- Design and oversee response procedures for mental health crises, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and effective interventions.
- Train staff on crisis mitigation strategies and provide guidance during critical incidents.
- Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, highlighting program achievements, challenges, and strategic direction.
- Advocate for the importance of SEL and mental health programs, emphasizing their role in positively shaping youth outcomes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local agencies, and resources to support the needs of families. Connect families with services and resources that promote stability and growth
- Collaborate closely with Flatbush Development leadership, school administration, teachers, staff, and community organizations to address the needs of students, families, and the school community
- Conduct thorough assessments of family needs and provide targeted support, ensuring that all students and their families have access to the necessary resources to thrive
- Plan, organize, and facilitate workshops and events that engage families and the community, providing education and resources to support student success and family well-being. Enhance community and family engagement, focusing on mentorship, employment, and life skills training
Educational & Professional Credentials:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- LMSW, LCSW, SIFI certification required or eligblity to obtain certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in youth mental health and SEL initiatives, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Strong understanding of youth mental health challenges and the intricacies of social-emotional learning.
- Expertise in multi-tiered SEL and mental health program development, execution, and assessment.
- Proficiency in designing and delivering training modules and workshops.
- Strong understanding of social services systems and experience navigating these systems effectively.
