Information Architect - Corporate Intranet
We are seeking an experienced Information Architect to support a major intranet transformation initiative. This role will focus on understanding colleague and business needs to design an intuitive, efficient, and scalable information architecture for a global corporate intranet.
The Information Architect will be responsible for defining navigation, taxonomy, and content structures that improve user experience while supporting organizational and compliance objectives.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements
- Design and develop the intranets information architecture, including navigation structures, site maps, and content taxonomies
- Create wireframes, navigation models, and IA documentation to guide design and development teams
- Ensure content is logically organized to improve findability and usability
- Develop and maintain clear, consistent naming conventions and metadata schemas
- Partner closely with content owners, UX designers, and developers to implement and refine the architecture
- Conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback to optimize intranet structure
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of information architecture standards and decisions
- Communicate architecture decisions, benefits, and best practices to stakeholders to support adoption and change management
- Ensure alignment with organizational standards, governance, and compliance requirements
- Ensure information architecture functions effectively across devices and platforms
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Architecture or related roles
- Proven experience as an Information Architect, preferably on intranet or enterprise content management initiatives
- Strong understanding of information architecture principles, user-centered design, and content strategy
- Proficiency in creating site maps, wireframes, navigation flows, and taxonomies
- Experience with intranet and content management platforms, preferably SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365
- Ability to analyze complex information and translate it into clear, user-friendly structures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present persuasive, fact-based recommendations
- Familiarity with usability testing tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
- Experience working in global, cross-functional teams and agile environments
- Bachelors degree required ; degree in Information Science, Library Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field preferred
