Title: Training Specialist
Reports To: Director of Compliance
FLSA: Non-exempt
Status: Full-time
Purpose of the Role:
The Training Specialist is responsible to ensure all new staff are educated on all aspects of their job functions and complete the mandatory trainings within given timeframes. Reporting to the Director of Compliance, this position also works collaboratively with Human Resources and the Clinical Departments to achieve a motivated and effective workforce at Choice.
Key Job Functions:
- Orientation of new staff as well as delivery of existing agency training.
- Ensure required annual state and federal trainings (i.e., sexual harassment, etc.) are completed according to legal guidelines and organizational standards.
- Experience with and good working knowledge of Department of Health for Health Homes regulations. Experience working with an Electronic Health Record.
- Evaluate the Orientation Process, modify training modules as needed. Make recommendations on new training topics based on staff feedback.
- Deliver targeted training for all grant-funded staff, tailoring content to meet the specific requirements and objectives of each grant.
- Familiar with best practices in the areas of homelessness, supportive housing, mental health, substance use, and related areas.
- Assist underperforming staff members and provide tailored training interventions to improve their performance and skillsets.
- Collaborate with community organizations to bring in external experts, resources, and additional training opportunities for staff.
- Comfortable with and experience in public speaking, leading meetings, groups, etc.
- Keep detailed records of all training sessions, participant attendance, and compliance with training requirements.
- Communicate with compliance/clinical departments on any deficiencies in staff performance and job knowledge. Recommend training areas needed to improve these areas.
- Troubleshoot client issues with new staff as well as to model effective client engagement and communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong, positive, and productive working relationships with departmental programs and colleagues throughout the organization
- Team and location assignments based on Agency needs.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5 pm, 35 hours per week, however flexibility required to address client and Agency needs.
Job Requirements:
2 Years’ Experience in Health Related Field in direct client care.
Working Knowledge of NY State’s Department of Health Regulations for Health Homes and/or OMH funded Programs
Experience with facilitating groups, enjoys teaching and relating to others
Energetic, Dynamic personality that can work autonomously
Bachelor’s preferred
Salary: $45,000 - $55,000
