Duties Description Duties include but may not be limited to:- Perform landscape architectural design and project management duties to complete complex architectural projects for new and rehabilitation of building plans and designs.- Prepare landscape architectural drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff. - Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other technical disciplines. - Actively manage the schedule of assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules.- Review reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants.- Actively oversee consultant design work for assigned projects.- Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress- Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project's construction.- Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including reviewing the work of subordinate staff.Operational Needs:- Travel may be required (approximately 20%). - Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.Notes:*There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired via NY HELPS will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:Successful completion of Sections 1 and 2 of the New York Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) and one year of experience planning and designing landscape development and site improvement projects, and overseeing the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of outdoor spaces and other open areas for transportation facilities, buildings, parks, historic sites, recreational facilities, campuses, gardens, playgrounds, and roads and highways.ORCurrent New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Landscape Architect 1 and eligible for transfer under the Civil Service Law.*Candidate must have New York State Professional Landscape Architect's License with current registration.Duties:Duties include but may not be limited to:- Perform landscape architectural design and project management duties to complete complex architectural projects for new and rehabilitation of building plans and designs.- Prepare landscape architectural drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff. - Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other technical disciplines. - Actively manage the schedule of assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules.- Review reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants.- Actively oversee consultant design work for assigned projects.- Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress- Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project's construction.- Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including reviewing the work of subordinate staff.
