Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Field Engineer

A highly respected geotechnical engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Geotechnical Field Engineer to join its New York team.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to construction and wants to work on some of the most technically demanding geotechnical projects in the NYC area.

The work is predominantly local, with projects throughout New York City. Depending on your background and interests, the role can be heavily field-focused or develop into a broader technical and project-based position.

The Work

You can expect exposure to projects involving:

• Deep foundations, including large-diameter piles and complex foundation systems
• Complex support of excavation systems
• Waterfront and marine structures
• Tunnels and underground construction
• Subway and transit infrastructure
• High-rise and major commercial developments
• Bridges and other major structures
• Ground improvement and challenging subsurface conditions
• Instrumentation, monitoring and construction support

You’ll work alongside experienced geotechnical and structural engineers, contractors and project teams, gaining exposure to the full construction process and some of the most complex ground conditions in the region.

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 4+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
• Strong field engineering and construction experience
• Experience with deep foundations, SOE, foundations or similar complex geotechnical work
• Ability to understand and review technical designs and drawings
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with contractors, clients and project teams
• Civil or Geotechnical Engineering degree
• PE license preferred, but not required
• Willingness to remain involved in field and construction activities

Compensation: Up to approximately $160,000, depending on experience and qualifications. PE candidates can be considered at the higher end of the range.
