COTA

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team in a long term care setting. The COTA works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, individualized therapy services that help residents achieve their highest level of independence and functional ability.

This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is passionate about improving quality of life for geriatric and short-term rehabilitation residents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Implement treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist
• Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and ADL performance
• Train residents in self-care tasks such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and feeding
• Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment and compensatory techniques
• Accurately document treatment sessions and resident progress in the EMR
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members regarding resident status and goals
• Maintain compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations
• Participate in care plan meetings as needed

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Experience in long term care or skilled nursing preferred
• Strong documentation and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility
• Ability to lift, bend, push, and pull as required
• Standing and walking for extended periods
