Job Summary
The Research Machinist/Welder plans and performs a broad range of machining and bench operations as well as hand welding to fabricate a variety of short run special or experimental parts, jigs and fixtures per customer requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

»High School diploma or GED

»Five years' practice in machine tool operations and technical welding
significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered.


Preferred Qualifications

»Two-year significant technical degree in welding or completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of practice, training and /or education

» practice in a research and development facility


Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities

» capability to weld a wide assortment of materials using the appropriate techniques for each

»Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, diagrams, and schematics

» expertise of standard machine shop equipment including lathes, milling machines and grinders

» capability to produce results under pressure situations

»Requires a demonstrated commitment to quality and customer service

» capability to work independently or as part of a team

» capability to work with a diverse population
