Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medical Surgical

Location: Rochester, New York

Shift: Night Shift – 4x12-Hour Shifts

Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Medical Surgical assignment within a large acute care teaching hospital in Rochester, New York. This role is ideal for an LPN with recent acute care experience who is comfortable managing complex Med/Surg patient populations in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, telemetry experience, and the ability to independently manage patient assignments with RN support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within a Medical Surgical environment
• Manage assigned patients with support from the RN team
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments within LPN scope of practice
• Perform wound care and support post-surgical patient recovery
• Assist with telemetry monitoring and patient observation
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic EMR
• Support infection prevention and patient safety initiatives
• Float within skillset to support operational needs

Requirements

• Active New York State LPN License required
• Minimum recent acute care experience within the last 2 years required
• Current BLS Certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Strong Med/Surg and telemetry experience required

• Starting and maintaining IVs

• Oxygen administration
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Trach care and management

• Heparin protocols
• Telemetry monitoring
• Pacemaker care
• Wound care and wound vacs
• Surgical drains
• Isolation precautions
• Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Orthopedic trauma care
• Total joint replacement patient care
