About the Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health and medical needs in a controlled healthcare setting. The role includes patient assessment, medication administration, behavioral management, and coordination of care to ensure patient safety and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:-

Patient Care & Clinical Skills

• Deliver direct patient care across multiple systems:
  • Cardiac care including pacemaker management
  • Gastrointestinal care including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
  • Genitourinary/renal care including Foley catheter insertion (male & female) and urine specimen collection
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy including IV insertion and maintenance

Medication Administration

• Administer medications via oral, IM, subcutaneous, and NG/G-tube routes
• Manage medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, antianxiety drugs, mood stabilizers, sedatives, and antihypertensives

Behavioral Health Responsibilities

• Implement behavior management techniques
• Manage assaultive or aggressive behavior
• Apply de-escalation protocols
• Monitor patients with mood disorders, seizure disorders, and CVA

Respiratory Care

• Oxygen administration
• BiPAP/CPAP monitoring
• Nasal cannula support
• Oral suctioning

Mobility & Orthopedic Care

• Assist patients with ambulation

Skin & Wound Care

• Pressure ulcer prevention and assessment
• Dressing changes and wound care
• Wound vac and drain management
• Patient hygiene including bathing and oral care

Nursing Duties & Documentation

• Patient admission and assessment
• Vital signs monitoring
• Pain assessment and management
• Intake and output monitoring
• Medication reconciliation
• Laboratory result interpretation
• Specimen collection and labeling
• Follow-up communication
• Infection control and PPE compliance

Hospice & Patient Support

• End-of-life care
• Patient and family education and support

Endocrine Care

• Blood glucose monitoring and testing

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Behavioral health or psychiatric experience
