HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm, 40+ hour work week is required, overtime as needed
COMPENSATION: $70-80,000/per annum, based on knowledge and experience
The Buffalo Division Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Administrator is responsible for supporting the EHS programs for Metalico’s Buffalo Inc., facilities, which include Metalico Buffalo, Metalico Niagara, Skyway Auto Parts Inc., facilities which include Skyway Auto Parts, 49 Hopkins Auto Parts, and Buffalo Shredding & Recovery LLC. This position promotes EHS awareness, assists local managers with regulatory compliance, and serves as the primary point of contact for EHS related matters at these sites. The Buffalo Division EHS Administrator conducts inspections, reporting, audits, and training to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA, NYSDEC, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following;
- Assist facility managers with environmental, health, and safety compliance across assigned sites.
- Conduct weekly site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe practices, or environmental concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly EHS reports as required by corporate EHS and regulatory agencies.
- Perform quarterly EHS audits at each assigned facility, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions.
- Facilitate and lead monthly EHS meetings with site management teams and employees.
- Conduct and/or coordinate on-site training for employees, including regulatory training, new hire orientation, and refresher courses.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents and near-misses, document findings, root causes, and corrective measures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections or inquiries from state, local, or federal agencies.
- Maintain EHS records, permits, and documentation to ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
- Support implementation of corporate EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives at the divisional level.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all assigned facilities.
- May be assigned additional EHS-related projects or responsibilities as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum 3–5 years of EHS experience in an industrial or scrap/recycling environment preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NYSDEC, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to conduct effective training and present material to groups.
- Organizational, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple sites and travel between facilities within the Buffalo division.
- Continuing education (regulatory, safety, and environmental training) strongly encouraged.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but works closely with facility managers and supervisors to ensure EHS compliance.

- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.
